Ceiling Finish

From Popcorn Texture to a Smooth, Modern Ceiling.
Removing the texture is only part of the transformation. The real impact comes from the finishing work that follows — creating a smooth ceiling that gives the entire room a cleaner, brighter and more updated feel.

A Better Process. A Better Finished Ceiling.
Popcorn ceiling removal can be a messy and disruptive project when it is not handled properly. We focus on preparation, protection, controlled work and careful finishing so the experience is easier on your home — and the final ceiling is worth the disruption.

Know the Starting Point Before You Book.
Ceiling size, condition, height, painted texture, repairs underneath and the finishing scope can all affect the final price. For straightforward projects, this gives you a clear starting point.
Before You Remove The Texture.
Here are the questions homeowners most often ask before starting a popcorn or stucco ceiling removal project.
How much does popcorn ceiling removal cost?
Our minimum project charge starts at $2,200 and typically applies to straightforward ceiling areas up to approximately 240 sq. ft. Final pricing depends on ceiling condition, height, painted texture, repairs required, access and the finishing scope.
How long does popcorn ceiling removal take?
The timeline depends on the size of the project, ceiling condition, how easily the texture can be removed, repairs underneath and whether priming and painting are included. Larger or multi-room projects naturally require more time.
Can painted popcorn ceilings be removed?
Yes, but painted texture can be more difficult to remove and may require a different approach. It can increase the labour and finishing required, so it should be identified before the final scope is confirmed.
Will popcorn ceiling removal create a lot of dust?
Ceiling removal and finishing can create dust, which is why preparation matters. We protect surrounding surfaces and use dust-control equipment to help keep the work as contained and organized as possible.
What happens if damage is found underneath the texture?
Removing popcorn texture can reveal cracks, old repairs, uneven seams or damaged drywall. These areas can be repaired and finished properly, but additional work may affect the final scope and price.
Do you prime and paint the ceiling afterward?
Priming and painting can be included in the project when you want the ceiling completed through the final finish. The exact scope is confirmed as part of your estimate.
Does the room need to be empty?
Clearing the room helps us protect the space and work more efficiently. If furniture needs to be moved by our team before work can begin, a 20% surcharge is added to the project price.
Can older popcorn ceilings contain asbestos?
Some older textured ceiling materials may contain asbestos. Depending on the age and material, testing may be recommended before the ceiling is disturbed. If testing is required, removal should not proceed until the material has been properly assessed.
Can I send photos or do I need a site visit?
Photos can be a good starting point for straightforward spaces. Larger areas, multiple rooms, high ceilings, painted texture or uncertain ceiling conditions may require a site visit before the final scope is confirmed.
Do you handle one room and larger multi-room projects?
Yes. True Patch can handle individual rooms as well as larger multi-room popcorn ceiling removal projects across Toronto and the GTA.
